Privacy Policy

mmagnifier is a magnification app for people with low vision. We take privacy seriously. We collect nothing and transmit nothing.

Camera

mmagnifier uses your device's rear camera to display a live magnified view on screen. No video or images are recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. The camera is active only while the app is open and in the foreground. On the web version, the camera stream is released as soon as you switch away from the tab.

Flashlight

The torch is available in the native Android app only. It activates only when you tap the Torch button and turns off when you tap it again or close the app. It is never activated automatically.

Local storage

mmagnifier saves your zoom level, color mode, and brightness preference to your device's local storage. This data stays on your device only and is never transmitted anywhere.

Read text aloud

The native app includes an optional "Read" feature that scans the frozen camera frame for text and reads it aloud. Text recognition is performed entirely on your device using Google's ML Kit (Android). No image or text is sent to any server. Speech is produced by the device's built-in text-to-speech engine; no audio is recorded or transmitted.

What we don't do

Permissions

The Android app requests two permissions:

The text recognition and text-to-speech features use on-device system capabilities and require no additional permissions.
